After hours
Closed for the night? Your missed callers still hear from you.
Opulentus isn’t a live after-hours answering service. Nobody picks up. When a call comes in after you close and you miss it, the caller gets your after-hours text in seconds. They know you got the call and can tell you what they need, before they try someone else.
What happens to a call after you close.
Without a text back
The call rings out.
The caller gets voicemail or nothing. They don’t know when you’ll call back, so they may keep dialing down the list.
With Opulentus
A text lands in seconds.
The caller reads that you’re closed and got their call. They reply with what they need. In the morning, the lead is waiting in your inbox.
An after-hours text, start to finish.
This one uses the default after-hours message and the default questions. You can change all of them.
Example text. Example Garage Doors is a made-up business.
Your hours, your after-hours rules.
Hours
Set each day.
Pick open and close times for every day, in your time zone. Days you mark closed count as after hours.
Message
A separate night text.
Calls during hours get your usual text. Calls after close get the after-hours one. You write both.
Switch
On or off.
“Missed after hours” is its own switch in setup, next to busy, declined, and missed during hours.
When a live after-hours service fits better.
Opulentus sends a text and alerts you. It doesn’t talk to callers, dispatch a tech, or wake anyone up for you.
Opulentus fits when
- Most night calls can wait for a reply in the morning.
- You want to know what the caller needs before you call back.
- You’d rather reply to leads yourself.
A live service fits better when
- Every caller needs to talk to a person at night.
- Emergencies must be sent to an on-call tech right away.
- Many of your callers use landlines that can’t get texts.
How to set it up.
Step one
Set it up yourself.
Start your free trial. Write your messages, pick your questions, and set your hours.
Step two
Forward your missed calls.
Keep your number. On a cell phone, dial your carrier’s codes. On a VoIP line, your phone provider turns forwarding on. Then tap Verify. See the forwarding codes.
Step three
Close up for the night.
Calls you miss after close get your after-hours text. Replies wait in your inbox, and you get a text alert.

After-hours questions.
Is Opulentus an after-hours answering service?
No. Nobody picks up your phone at night. When you miss a call after you close, the caller gets your after-hours text in seconds. They can reply with what they need, and you follow up when you're open.
Do answering services still exist?
Yes. Live answering services still take calls after hours. Opulentus is a different kind of tool. It doesn't answer calls. It texts back the callers you miss.
How does it know I'm closed?
You set your hours for each day of the week in setup. A call you miss outside those hours, or on a day you mark closed, gets your after-hours message.
Can the after-hours text say something different?
Yes. You write a separate after-hours message. The default tells callers you're closed, that you got their call, and asks what they need and their ZIP code.
How do I spot the urgent calls from last night?
Turn on the urgency question. Callers can reply 1 for urgent service or 2 for a regular appointment, so you know who to call back first.
What if someone calls three times overnight?
They get one text, not three. Each caller has a cooldown, 4 hours by default. Anyone who replies STOP stops getting texts.
Is there a free after-hours answering service?
Opulentus isn't free. Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial. A card is required, and you won't be charged if you cancel during the trial. After that it's $169/mo month-to-month, or less on a 12-month plan.
Do I need a new phone number?
No. Customers keep calling the number they already know. Only the calls you miss forward to Opulentus. Texts go out from your dedicated texting number, in your business's name.
