FAQ

Straight answers, by topic.

Everything below is how Opulentus actually works, not marketing copy. If a question isn’t here, email us.

Getting started

Can I automatically text back a missed call?

Yes. That's exactly what Opulentus does. When you can't pick up, the caller gets a text from your business in seconds asking how you can help. Their reply comes straight to you, so the lead doesn't call your competitor instead.

What does the missed call text message say?

You write it. For example: “Hi, this is Summit Plumbing. Sorry we missed your call. How can we help today?” (Summit Plumbing is a made-up business, the same example used on the homepage.) You also choose which follow-up questions it asks and word them yourself, from six fixed question slots: what service they need, their ZIP code, how urgent it is, a description, a photo, and a callback time. The first text includes “Reply STOP to opt out,” and so does the follow-up sent if the caller doesn't reply.

How do I set it up?

Start your free trial, answer a few quick questions about your business, then dial one forwarding code from your phone (or ask your provider to turn it on, for a VoIP line). Setup takes minutes. You don't need a new phone or phone system.

Do I have to change my phone number?

No. Customers keep calling the number they already know. Only the calls you miss get forwarded to your dedicated Opulentus number.

Call forwarding and carriers

How does the call forwarding code work?

Pick your carrier during setup and we show you the exact code to dial, including AT&T. There's a code to turn it off too, and your phone works the way it did before.

Which carriers does it work with?

In the US: T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon, with a code shown for each. In Canada: Rogers, Bell, Telus, Fido, Koodo, and Freedom. On another carrier, choose “Other” during setup.

Does it work with a landline or VoIP phone?

VoIP, yes. VoIP lines don't use a dial code: ask your phone provider to turn on conditional call forwarding, for no answer and busy, to your Opulentus number, then tap Verify in setup. A traditional landline depends on the phone company, and some won't turn this kind of forwarding on, so book a call with the button at the top of this page and we'll check yours with you first.

How do I know it's set up right?

Setup has a Verify step that places a real test call and confirms your calls forward correctly. If nothing shows it working 48 hours after you go live, we check in with you. If Verify doesn't go through, email info@opulentusmedia.com. We're available 9am to 6pm Eastern and reply within 24 hours.

Messages and questions

What number does the text come from?

Each business gets its own dedicated texting number, and the text is sent in your business's name so callers know it's you. Callers still reach you on your usual number.

Is this an AI receptionist?

No. Opulentus is rules-based, not AI, and it doesn't answer your calls or talk to your customers. It texts back the callers you miss, asks the questions you set, and hands the conversation to you. You stay in control of every reply.

Can I choose when it texts?

Yes. Turn on any mix of these: missed during business hours, missed after hours (its own separate message), busy, and declined.

What questions can it ask?

Setup gives you six fixed question slots, and you turn each on or off and word it yourself: service needed, ZIP code, urgency, description, photos, and callback preference. The urgency question is the one place a caller replies with a number (1 for urgent, 2 for a regular appointment); every other question is answered in the caller's own words.

Will the same caller get texted over and over?

No. Each caller has a cooldown, 4 hours by default, and you can change it. Someone who calls several times in a row gets one text, not several. Calls from blocked, withheld, anonymous, or invalid caller IDs are skipped entirely: no text, no lead. There's no separate robocall filter beyond that.

Will it text people late at night?

The first text goes out right away, whenever the call comes in, because it answers a call the person just made. The follow-up, the single reminder sent if a caller doesn't reply, never goes out before 8am or after 9pm in your business's local time. Each lead gets one follow-up at most.

What if a number can't get texts?

If the carrier reports that a number can't be reached by text, we stop texting it.

Privacy, consent, and opt-out

Is texting people who called me legal? Isn't that text blasting?

Opulentus doesn’t send mass texts. It only replies to people who just called your business, with one message and the follow-up questions you chose. The first text includes “Reply STOP to opt out,” and so does the follow-up sent if the caller doesn’t reply. See our SMS consent, Privacy, and Terms pages.

What happens if someone replies STOP?

They stop getting texts right away, for good. We check the opt-out list before every send. If they later text START, they're subscribed again.

Does every text include the opt-out line?

No. The first text includes “Reply STOP to opt out,” and so does the follow-up, the single reminder sent if a caller doesn't reply. The question texts sent after a caller replies don't repeat it. Replying STOP works at any time.

Pricing and the trial

Is there a free option?

Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial. A card is required to start. Cancel before the trial ends and you won't be charged.

How much does it cost?

After the trial, in USD: $169/mo month-to-month, $139/mo on a 12-month plan billed monthly, or $1,548/yr on a 12-month plan billed annually.

How does the free trial work?

You get 14 days free on any plan, and a card is required to start. Cancel before the trial ends and you won't be charged. Keep it, and billing starts on day 15 at the plan you picked.

Can I cancel anytime?

On the monthly plan, yes: cancel anytime. You keep access through the end of the month you've paid for, and that month isn't refunded. The 12-month plans are yearly agreements at a lower rate, so they can't be cancelled mid-term.

Does it work in Canada?

Setup includes forwarding codes for major Canadian carriers (Rogers, Bell, Telus, Fido, Koodo, and Freedom). Prices are in US dollars, and a Canadian card is charged the USD amount.
