For roofers

You’re on the roof. The leak call is on the ground.

Tear-off days and storm weeks bring the most calls and the fewest answers, and Opulentus isn’t a live answering service. The caller gets a text from your business in seconds and tells you whether water is coming in right now.

The calls a roofing crew misses.

Twenty feet up

Compressor, gun, crew.

That’s a ring you will never hear, and a ladder you won’t climb down for a quote call.

Storm day

A week of calls in an afternoon.

Every damaged house on the street dials at once, and you’re already on one of the roofs. Each caller still gets your questions.

Tear-off

All hands, on a clock.

Shingles come off on a schedule and the deck has to be dried in. Nobody is free to take a call, and now nobody has to be.

What a leak caller sees.

This example uses your own first message, the ZIP code question, and the urgency question reworded as an active leak check.

Example text. Example Roofing Co. is a made-up business.

The questions you’d ask on the phone.

There are six, in a fixed order. Three are on when you start and three are off. You write the wording for all of them.

On to start

  • Service. Leak, storm damage, or a re-roof quote. Three different callbacks.
  • ZIP code. Or the property address, so you can see the roof on a map before you drive out.
  • Urgency. The one that matters on this trade: is water coming in right now, yes or no.

Off until you want them

  • Description. Roof age and material, one story or two, and whether they’re filing an insurance claim.
  • Photos. A picture of the stained ceiling or the missing shingles, before anyone gets on a ladder.
  • Callback. Best number and time, for the full replacements.

Your rules for every missed call.

When it texts

  • Missed during hours. The bulk of it. You’re on a roof and the phone is in the truck.
  • Busy or declined. You were already on with a homeowner or an adjuster.
  • After hours. Storm weeks are the case for it: leaks get noticed in the evening. More on after hours.

What it skips

  • Hidden numbers. Blocked, withheld, and anonymous caller IDs don’t get a text.
  • Repeat callers. A cooldown, 4 hours by default, stops text after text to one caller. Different callers are unaffected.
  • Opt-outs. The first text says “Reply STOP to opt out.” Anyone who replies STOP stops getting texts.

How it works.

Step one

Set it up yourself.

Start your free trial, pick Roofing, and write your message and your questions. Your words, your hours, your rules.

Step two

Forward your missed calls.

Keep the number on your yard signs. On a cell phone, dial your carrier’s codes. On a VoIP line, your phone provider turns forwarding on. Then tap Verify. See the forwarding codes.

Step three

Get back on the deck.

Missed callers get a text in seconds. Their answers land in your inbox, and you get a text alert when a lead comes in.

Questions roofers ask.

Is this a roofing answering service?

No. Nobody answers your calls. Missed callers get a text from your business, answer the questions you set, and become a lead in your inbox.

Can it separate an emergency leak from a re-roof quote?

Yes. Reword the urgency question as “is water coming in right now” with a numbered reply, and the emergency sits at the top of your callback list.

Can it ask about insurance claims?

Yes. Turn on the description question and ask whether they're filing a claim. The answer comes to you with the rest of the lead.

A storm brings 40 calls in an afternoon. Does it text all of them?

Every missed call that matches your triggers gets your text. The cooldown only stops the same caller being texted again inside the window, so 40 different callers get 40 texts.

My office manager answers when she's in. Will callers get double-handled?

No. Only the calls nobody picks up forward to Opulentus. Answered calls never reach it.

Do I have to change my number?

No. The number on your yard signs and your truck stays. Each business gets its own dedicated texting number, and the text goes out in your business's name.

What does it cost?

After a 14-day free trial: $169/mo month-to-month, $139/mo on a 12-month plan billed monthly, or $1,548 a year on a 12-month plan billed annually. A card is required to start the trial, and you won't be charged if you cancel during the 14 days.

How do I confirm it's working before a storm hits?

Setup ends with a Verify step that places a real test call and confirms forwarding. Run it the day you set up, not the day the hail comes.
